Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warmed milk (2% or higher)
  • 1 package instant yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted salted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 5 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until frothy (2-3 minutes). Add eggs, melted butter, and sugar; mix gently.
  2. Gradually add salt and 4 cups of flour; mix until just combined. Let it rest for about five minutes.
  3. Switch to a dough hook; knead on medium speed, adding more flour if needed until smooth but slightly tacky.
  4. Transfer to a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 30 minutes).
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle (24×15 inches), spread apple butter evenly, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll tightly from one long edge; slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking pan and let rise again (20 minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour warm heavy cream over rolls before baking.
  8. Bake until golden brown (20-25 minutes). Cool slightly before frosting with a mixture of cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and cinnamon.
