  • 2 tbs corn starch
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour

  • 6 tbs unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 tbs unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 13 tbs whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cherry Filling: In a saucepan, combine 3.5 cups frozen cherries, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cold water, and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until thickened, then let cool.
  2. Make the Dough: In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup warm water with 1 teaspoon active dry yeast; let sit for 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup whole milk, 1/3 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 4.5 cups bread flour, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add the yeast mixture and knead until smooth.
  3. Let it Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl covered with a towel in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll & Fill: Roll out dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter on top. Evenly distribute cooled cherry filling over the dough. Roll tightly and slice into pieces.
  5. Bake: Place rolls in a greased dish and let them rise again briefly before baking at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Frost & Enjoy: Mix together 4 tablespoons softened butter, 3 ounces cream cheese, 2 cups powdered sugar, and enough milk for desired consistency to create frosting. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
