  • 3 lbs tart green apples, such as Granny Smith
  • 1 cup sugar + 2 tbsp, divided
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pie crust by fitting it into a pie plate and chilling in the fridge.
  2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; sprinkle over apples and stir gently.

  5. Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes; then reduce temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 55–65 minutes until set.
