This one-pan dish can be whipped up in just 35 minutes, making it an ideal choice for busy families or gatherings. The tender orzo absorbs the rich flavors of the sauce, while fresh basil adds a delightful aromatic touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 ½ cups orzo pasta
  • 2 ½ cups beef broth
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion for about 6-8 minutes, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  2. Stir in tomato paste, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes; cook for another minute to deepen flavors.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes and beef broth; stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add orzo pasta, cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for about 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender yet slightly al dente.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and simmer gently for a few more minutes until creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
