Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or preferred cheese)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, drizzle olive oil and sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them afterward.
  2. Push the vegetables aside and add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper; mix well for 2 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low, place cheese over the beef mixture, cover, and let melt for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. While cheese melts, slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture into each roll and serve hot.
