  • ⅓ cup neutral oil (vegetable, avocado, canola, etc.)
  • 1 cup milk or water
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 tsp milk (add more if needed)
  • 12 oz candy melts
  • White nonpareils or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325-350°F (162-175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, milk (or water), and eggs until blended. Pour into a greased baking pan.
  3. Bake according to package instructions; perform a toothpick test for doneness.
  4. After cooling slightly, crumble the baked cake into a large bowl.
  5. Prepare the buttercream by mixing softened butter with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. Combine with the crumbled cake.
  6. Roll the mixture into 1¼-inch balls and chill in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  7. Dip lollipop sticks in melted candy melts before inserting them halfway into each ball.
  8. Coat each pop in melted candy melts and sprinkle with nonpareils while wet.
  9. Allow them to set upright in a holder.
