  • 1 cup dried chickpeas (soaked overnight)
  • 1/2 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked for 2 hours
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Drain soaked chickpeas and chana dal; blend until coarsely ground.
  2. Sauté onions, garlic, and ginger in oil until softened; stir in green chilies and spices.
  3. Combine sautéed mixture with ground legumes; add herbs and lemon juice.
  4. Shape into patties; adjust consistency with water or gram flour if needed.
  5. Fry in oil until golden brown on both sides.
